IRA Interstate Racing Association

Sprint Spectacular Saturday September 30th

This Saturday, September 30th the Bumper To Bumper Interstate Racing Association (IRA) season championship comes to an end, as the series heads to the Plymouth Dirt Track for the final points night of the season. Saturday’s Checkered Classic, Wisconsin Sprint Car Racing's Championship night, will feature 4 divisions of sprintcars. The IRA 410 winged cars will be joined by the IRAs other two divisions, the Wisconsin wingLESS series as well as the Wisconsin Illinois Mini Sprints, and if that wasn't enough, the MSA winged 360s will also be in action.

Bill Balog has proven to be the strongest driver all season and will wrap up his 8th championship this weekend, but getting to victory lane on Saturday could prove to be a challenge for the Rhine Auto team. In the previous 2 visits to the Plymouth Dirt Track in 2017 two of the IRAs young guns found victory lane, as Kyle Marten won the first appearance and Scotty Thiel picked up the victory on the second visit. Both of these drivers should be strong when they hit the high banked oval Saturday night but they're not the only competition Balog will face.
There is a list of IRA front runners who have yet to pick up a victory in 2017 and will all be looking to break through and get a victory before the long off season. The most surprising driver to be winless in 2017 is 2016 IRA champion Jeremy Schultz, a driver who cut his teeth at the Plymouth Dirt Track. The man who mentored Schultz, IRA veteran Scotty Neitzel is also winless this year in IRA competition and will be looking to change that this weekend. A final driver to watch will be Steve Meyer, the crowd favorite at the 1/3rd mile has been unable to get to victory lane this season but that could all change this Saturday night.

Racing action will be getting underway early Saturday, with warm ups scheduled for 4:30 and qualifying at 5:15.
Adult tickets will be $20, children 6-12 will be $5 and children 5 and under will get in for free. Pit passes will be $30.

The IRA would like to thank our wonderful sponsors, Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts, Osborn and Son Trucking, TW Metals, Carriage Auto Body, Cummins Onan, Hopf Farms, Hagar’s Half Pound Cookies and Hoosier Tire.
