IRA Interstate Racing Association

Tatnell Wins Bill Waite Jr Memorial

33 teams signed in for action at the co sanctioned Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association(IRA)/ Neal Tire Midwest Open Wheel Association 7th annual Bill Waite Jr Memorial. Osborn and Son Trucking Qualifying saw Carson Macedo of Lemoore, California set quick time over Brooke Tatnell and “The Big Wheel” Scotty Thiel. 2016 IRA champion Jeremy Schultz would time in 4th and Justin Henderson would be 5th.

Weld Wheels Heat Race 1 would see Bret Tripplett get the jump on the field, but Ben Schmidt would quickly work to get his 73 machine around the red 22 of Tripplett. Schmidt would go on to claim the victory over Triplett and Carson Macedo. Henderson would bring the 83 across in 4th with Jordan Goldesberry in 5th.
In Allstar Performance Heat Race 2 Jim Moughan set the pace, Brooke Tatnell quickly moved his 55 into 2nd but could not reel in the 1mm piloted by Moughan. 3rd place would go to AJ Bruns with Jacob Patten and Joe B Miller claiming the final transfer positions into the A main.
DMI Heat Race 3 saw trouble on the start as Bill Balog would make contact with Kris Spitz, causing the 4K to get upside down. On the restart Scotty Thiel would jump out to the front. Behind Thiel, Balog and Mike Terry Jr. trade slide jobs for the 2nd position. After multiple laps of slide jobs and crossovers, Balog would come out on top in 2nd, but would not be able to chase down Scotty Thiel for the win. 3rd would go to Kyle Martin with Terry Jr in 4th and Logan Faucon in 5th.
R&H Enterprises Heat Race 4 saw Brad Loyet utilize the high side to lead all 10 laps in route to victory. Behind Loyet, as the field all pounded the cushion, IRA veteran Scotty Neitzel patiently chipped away on the bottom. As the checkered flags waved for Loyet, Neitzel had found his way to 2nd. Chris Urish and Spencer Bayston traded 3rd position many times but at the line Urish would claim 3rd by a nose over Bayston. 5th would go to the 29 of Joey Moughan.

Behling Racing Equipment B main action saw Wayne Modjeski lead all 12 laps to lock into the A main. “The King of the Sherm Nation” Jeremy Schultz would claim 2nd over Trey Detweiler. Travis Mahoney would utilize the bottom of the racetrack, and lots of patience to claim the 4th and final transfer into the A main. Jimmy Fifield would bring his 14 machine home in the 5th position.

The A main saw Brooke Tatnell take off from the field. As the laps clicked off Tatnell’s 55 pulled further and further away from the rest of the pack. However at the halfway point all the Aussie’s hard work would be erased, as the red flag would wave for Bill Balog and Bret Tripplett. Tatnell would not be stopped though, and on the restart he once again drove away from the field. Brad Loyet would reel the 55 in as the laps winding down, but would not have the time to make a run for the lead, as the checkered flags fell, it was Australia's Brooke Tatnell who claimed the $5000 check and the victory at the 7th annual Bill Waite Jr Memorial. Brad Loyet would finish 2nd over Spencer Bayston. Joe B Miller and Carson Macedo would round out the top 5.
