Thiel, Crane and Neau Victorious in 141 Speedway Sprint Car Spectacular

31 Interstate Racing Association (IRA) Winged 410 sprint cars signed in to do battle at the beautiful 141 Speedway for night 4 of the Hopf Farms Bullring Showdown. Osborn and Son Trucking qualifying saw the “North Pole Nightmare” Bill Balog set quick time over Mike Reinke and Blake Nimee. Matt Vandervere was 4th quick in his Grandstand Video 10v and Scotty Neitzel was 5th.

Weld Wheels Heat Race 1 saw Ben Schmidt take the early lead, with 4 laps to go, contact sidelined Schmidt and gave Schultz the lead. Schultz would take the win over Balog and Vandervere. Russel Borland brought his Hopf Farms sponsored machine across in 4th and Josh Walter rounded out the top 5.
In Allstar Performance Heat Race 2 Todd King utilized the high line on the start, and led the field all the way to the checkered. Neitzel moved into the 2nd position followed by Phillip Mock and Reinke. Jordan Goldesberry brought his blue and yellow 65 home in 5th.
DMI Racing/R&H Enterprises Heat Race 3 was won by 4th starting Blake Nimee. Scotty Thiel in his Professional Plating Machine came home in 2nd followed by Steve Meyer. Todd Daun and Dave Uttech finished 4th and 5th respectively.

Behling Race Products B Main saw Kris Spitz take the lead for the first half of the race, but eventually would be out run by Ben Schmidt. Spitz followed Schmidt across the line in 2nd followed by Mike Decker in 3rd. KenJay Fiedler would cross in 4th and Jereme Schroeder was 5th.

Bumper to Bumper A Main action saw contact bring out a red on the start for the 02 of Mike Reinke and the 17b of Bill Balog. Balog’s team was able to make repairs and get him restarted. Once the race got going, Meyer was able to get the early lead. Through numerous cautions, Scotty Thiel was able to work his way into the 2nd position when the caution flag once again flew, this time for 3rd running Phillip Mock. On the restart it was Meyer leading over Thiel and Vandervere. The 17b of Balog had worked his way through the field and was now in the 4th position as the race went back green. On the restart Meyer climbed the back stretch wall, after initially continuing, the 85m machine would come to a stop setting up a green white checkered finish. On the restart, Vandervere had a chance at Thiel, but couldn't complete the pass and Thiel would go on to claim his 1st victory of the season. Vandervere and Balog rounded out the podium. Neitzel came across in 4th followed by Nimee in 5th.

In Wisconsin wingLESS Sprints presented by the IRA action Jordan Mattson, Tim Cox and Doug Schenck picked up heat race wins. The A main saw George Gaertner lead the first half, until Derek Crane, and Tim Cox were both able to move past him and do battle for the lead. Crane was able to gap Cox in lapped traffic and eventually claim the win. Cox ran 2nd and Derek Crane’s brother Nathan rounded out the podium.

Wisconsin Illinois Mini Sprint competition saw Derrick Fortier and Tim Brannam both nab heat race wins. In the A main, Mike Neau jumped out to the early lead. A red flag for Bobby Tackman bunched the field back up, but no one could best Neau. When the checkered flag fell, Neau was victorious over the Daywalt brothers, Kyle and Nick respectively.

Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 winged sprint cars return to action Friday night July 7th at the Dodge County Fairgrounds for the Harry Neitzel Tribute/Rick Schmidt Memorial. And then on July 15 it's the return of the IRA to Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Illinois.

The IRA would like to thank our wonderful sponsors, Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts, Osborn and Son Trucking, TW Metals, Carriage Auto Body, Cummins Onan, Hopf Farms, Hagar’s Half Pound Cookies and Hoosier Tire.
